Let me tell you why you must be able to eat your skin care products!

by Brett Seagrott

Allow me tell you why you must be able to eat your skin care products!

I’m sure you’re thinking this is a nonsensical thing to say but if you use skin care products and prioritize your health then you really should be able to eat skin care products.

I’m in no doubt that you already realize or at least have a feeling that you cannot trust skin care product manufacturers and their remarkable sounding marketing claims. Their biggest industry secret which they don’t want you to know is that their products can put you at risk for potentially damaging long term side effects because of a number of chemicals they use in their skincare formulas. This absolutely includes the well-known, big brand names.

If their manufacturing shortcuts and secrets became extensively known, their profits would take a hit. Once you know the details about the unsafe ingredients they use, you will see exactly what health dangers and risks you’re up against.

UNSAFE CHEMICALS

Why do skincare companies make use of hazardous chemicals in their products?

You’ve no doubt already guessed the answer – MONEY! Profits, profits and more profits! Your health and safety comes in a far-flung second to their multi million dollar profits.

Skin care companies manufacture to a predetermined price. It’s this issue which invariably leads to the use of dangerous and sub-standard ingredients in skin care products. The scientists and chemists who produce skin care formulas are restricted from including ALL the very best and most efficient ingredients – the ones which really work! They are set a budget and they must chose their ingredient mix within that limit! This simply leads to the use of chemicals in place of natural options because they are far cheaper. It also results in ineffective dose amounts of the truly effective active ingredients.

Here’s an case in point: One of the skin care industry’s giants, an ‘elite’ brand (it starts with the letter C), uses a dreadful chemical in their facial skin care formulas which is classified as a pesticide. It’s called TRICLOSAN – an anti-bacterial chemical which kills dangerous organisms on the skin BUT also destroys helpful bacteria! There is clinical data to indicate triclosan may be a factor to creating strains of bacteria that are unaffected by to antibiotics since it is so broadly used use in skin care products.

Why would any of us in our right minds let a chemical used in weed killers to be absorbed into our bodies!

Skin care products should be pure enough to Consume! This should be the target for manufacturers and one of your major criteria when choosing anti aging skin care products. At all times keep this in mind: active ingredients are adsorbed into your bloodstream so that means it’s equivalent as eating them!

As you would expect, it’s more expensive to use naturally sourced options. Sourcing high-quality, 100% natural moisturizing oils, vegetable-based waxes and silicones, reparative proteins, antioxidants, vitamins and plant extracts are extensively more expensive. Shareholder pressures in the big|huge|giant multi nationals definitely don’t allow the fully natural choice to have a look in. They are absolutely focused on maintaining and developing their staggeringly excessive profit margins.

THE LOWDOWN ON ‘NATURAL INGREDIENTs’

We’ve all seen that term ‘natural ingredient’. But have you ever carefully examined the list of ingredients on an “All Natural” facial skin care product? Even with of the ‘All Natural’ claims, there’s a number of pretty alarming and utterly chemical sounding names printed there. But the skin care company might not really be deceiving you.

Ingredients are listed with their INCI names which is an global scientific categorization for all ingredients. This allows for consistency from product to product and allows consumers to simply compare ingredients across brands. INCI stands for “International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients” So, naturally sourced ingredients listed using their INCI label can and do appear to be chemicals even though they are not.

However the INCI name can be misleading! It does not differentiate between an ingredient that is derived from petroleum and another which is derived from a natural plant source if the end substance broadly has a similar structure.

Here’s an example for you – ‘Glycerine’. You’ll find this ingredient in skin care formulas as a humectant. What you absolutely want is natural plant based glycerine. But most companies use petroleum-based glycerine because it’s drastically cheaper. Plant based glycerine is entirely safe to consume. Who wants petroleum-based glycerine absorbed into their body?

SKIN CARE PRODUCTS – YOUR BOTTOM LINE

Clearly you need to be very particular with the skin care products you choose to use. The bottom line when comparing and sizing up brands is that you consider both purity (ie. No chemicals whatsoever – safe enough to eat) AND efficacy (number and dose amount of leading active ingredients).

The type of skin care company you should buy from is the type who orders their formulators to put together the very best formulas possible that actually work and are absolutely safe enough to eat, and which prices their products reasonably according to the cost of manufacture while settling for a fair profit. A big ask! While there are companies like that out there the sad truth is that there are not many and finding them is the trick.

That’s where I can help out. I worked for a skin care product manufacturer so I understand all the industry secrets. I’ve reviewed hundreds of skin care products. Click the links in the author resource box underneath and I’ll guide you to some exceptional anti aging skin care products whose all natural formulas have 2-3 times more actives than the majority of skin care companies (particularly the elite brands), charge about a third of the expensive major brands (and if you want to eat them you’ll be quiet safe!)

Guest post by: Carol Truesdale

Where do you go to buy the best anti-aging skin creams? A lot of people see a commercial or read a magazine ad, then go to a department store. That is exactly how it happens even though, as a consumer, you get almost no concrete info about the product.

And you can’t trust the employees at the department store to warn you of anything.

Advertising and customer service do little to inform you of the ingredients in the cream and how effective they are. Companies know that the average consumer isn’t knowledgeable about ingredients, so they just pump most of their money into marketing. And it works for them. They make huge profits by skimping on safety and effectiveness.

The best anti-aging creams should not contain fragrances, preservatives, or petrolatum. But testing by consumer advocate groups has shown that use of these ingredients is widespread in the cosmetics industry.

Take fragrances, for example. What’s wrong with them? It’s true that most perfumes and colognes contain chemicals that are toxic or carcinogenic. But you only use a few dabs at a time. Very little absorption takes place.

However, with a skin cream, you may rub it all over your face and body. If it contains fragrances, your exposure to these harmful chemicals is much greater.

Synthetic preservatives are also found in most skin care products. They cause allergies, itching, and irritation. Usually, they will be listed on the label as some form of paraben. Researchers have linked exposure to parabens with cancer. Some of those products you see advertised on tv contain 4 different types of parabens.

The best anti-aging skin creams use vitamin E instead. It’s a natural preservative, though it is more expensive than parabens. It’s hard to imagine a company that would endanger its customers just to make a few more bucks. But there are many out there.

Another ingredient you’ll often see listed on the label is mineral oil. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Well, mineral oil is just another name for liquid petrolatum. When oil companies convert crude oil into gasoline, liquid petrolatum is a byproduct. Don’t ask me why cosmetics companies use it.

So, next time you’re watching tv and you see an ad for a skin care product, write it down. Then go to the department store, find the product, and read the label. I bet you’ll see at least one of the bad ingredients I described in this article.

The best skin creams aren’t advertised much or even at all. Why? Because the companies that make them can’t afford it. They pour all their money into developing the most effective products. Visit my site to learn more about the best anti-aging skin creams on the market.

Submitted by Dorris

Guest post by: Margaret Bell

Anti aging skin care products should give you younger looking skin. Choosing an anti aging skin cream that works isn’t easy. But let me show you what your skin care program should contain. Here we will consider 5 possible treatments for your antiaging skin care program.

1. Whitening

2. Restorative Antiaging Skin Cream

3. Eye Contour Gel

4. Hydrating Mask

5. Cleansing Mask

Do you really need all 5 of the above? Let’s find out.

Whitening

You may not need whitening if your natural skin tone is just right for you. The reason we include it as potentially part of your anti aging skin care program is because some people with fair skin develop dark spots or age spot as they are sometimes called. Also skin could have uneven tones.

Always choose the type of anti aging skin cream that has no abrasives or harsh chemicals. The best choice that I found contained a natural herbal extract found in Europe that would inhibit melanin production and reduce irritation that sometimes happens when skin becomes thinner.

Restorative Antiaging Skin Cream

Virtually everyone needs a restorative anti aging skin cream at bedtime. When you are fast asleep your body repairs all of your cells (including skin cells) that during the day were damaged.

Find a skin cream that has no colors, fragrances or alcohol. You want no damaging chemicals on your skin. But you do want a anti aging skin care cream that supports the collagen, elastin and skin cell production.

Eye Contour Gel

For the best anti aging skin care program, an eye contour gel is highly recommended. A dead give away when guessing someone’s age is things like crows feet, bags and tiny lines. Eyes are often caused to be irritated and itch because some gels have alcohol. The best antiaging skin cream for the area around the eyes is one that contains the latest European ingredients.

As you become a little older, your skin becomes more sensitive to scrubbing. Exfoliating can actually remove healthy skin.

Hydrating Mask

Your daily moisturizers work better and more efficiently with the help of an antiaging skin care hydrating mask. Your entire body needs to be hydrated. In most any moisturizer or antiaging skin cream the primary ingredient is purified water, which is fine, but research has revealed new substances that allow you to “retain” that water, so your skin stays moister, longer. The result is softer and healthier looking.

Antiaging Cleansing Mask

To remove dead skin cells and prevent black heads, acne and pimples a deep cleansing mask will do the job. Acne can come at almost any age, especially if your health and skin care program is not up to par. Be sure to choose a product that contains no chemicals or harsh ingredients.

The best choice for an antiaging skin cream mask is New Zealand mineral clay. It revitalizes and soothes. The result is softer and smoother. You probably will have a hard time finding it in a reliable product. I finally did after a lot of searching. But I can assure you that once I did, it was worth it by the great results I get.

Submitted by Babara

Guest post by: David Cowley

There are hundreds of anti-aging products on the drugstore shelves. All of the lotions, potions, creams, toners, moisturizers, and exfoliating for you skin have one thing in common and that is a hefty price tag. Why purchase anti aging lotions when you can make your own right in your kitchen?

Anti aging skin care products fall into several categories, cleaning or exfoliating, moisturizing, and repair. If you have a favorite commercial product that you like then read the label on the jar and look for the active ingredients. You man not know what Hydroquinone is or what it does but with a little research in the internet you can find out that it is used to reduce age spots on the skin by inhabiting melanin production. Melanin is the chemical in you skin that is responsible for tanning.

Cleaning or exfoliating of the skin is the first step in a skin anti aging regiment. Get rid of dead skin cells by exfoliating regularly. You can use crushed sea salt, oatmeal or cornmeal for this. Citrus fruits are also ideal as they help to break down the dead cells. Lemons will make your face will sting slightly but the results are worth it!

Safflower oil doubles as both cooking oil and a natural antioxidant when applied to the skin to moisturize it. Avocado oil can also be used as a skin moisturizer. Both oils can be used as a base to add other ingredients to. Keeping your skin properly moisturized is the best way to make sure it does not age prematurely. Oils are actually more easily absorbed than creams as well.

Most of us have an Aloe Vera plant in the kitchen area and we use it to treat burns. If it can repair damage skin tissue then will also repair the damage to the skin from the aging process. Aloe Vera will help rejuvenate and tone skin all over. A naturally cooling gel, the Aloe Vera botanical ingredients work together to stimulate the blood circulation and naturally soften the skin.

When make your own anti aging creams successfully it will take some time exploring which ingredients are right for you. As with any store bought anti aging cream, home made ones can irritate your skin if they are particularly sensitive, and it’s best to try a patch test for any new ingredient you are going to try. Try some different combinations to see what works best for your skin tone. Always select fresh products to gain the most vitamins and minerals as you can from them. This is one of the best advantages to making creams at home.

You will need to incorporate an internal as well as an external anti aging skin treatment for a balanced approach to the problem. After all, why would you put a nice fresh coat of paint on a rusted car? It may look good for a short time but it will not last long.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with aging skin such as Beta Carotene, Butterbur, Green Tea, Olbas, and Salicylic Acid.

Beta Carotene helps protect Vitamin C from oxidation, which enables it to perform at optimum efficiency. Symptoms of Beta Carotene deficiency include ache, dry dull hair, dry skin and thickened scaly skin on the palms and soles of the feet.

Butterbur is a common herbal extract that is highly effective asthma therapy. As far back as the 17th century, butterbur was used to treat cough, asthma, and skin wounds.

Green Tea contains antioxidants that may protect against heart disease, several types of cancer, and skin damage. The used tea bags are good for the dark circles under the eyes.

Olbas is used to increase the circulation in skin by opening up the skin pores. Olbas oil has been used for its healing properties in cultures around the world for centuries.

Salicylic Acid also helps breakdown blackheads and whiteheads. It also helps cut down the shedding of cells lining the hair follicles clogging the pores of the skin. Salicylic acid is used as a mild abrasive to chemically exfoliate the skin to encourage the peeling of the top layer and to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells which combine with the oil to block pores.

If you just feel that you need vitamins, supplements or herbs to fight the aging process then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

This Article is nutritional in nature and is not to be construed as medical advice.

Submitted by Annabelle
